Visit the Statue of Liberty !
To get to Liberty Island, it is necessary to take a boat. Before boarding, you will go through security checks similar to those at airports.
The visit of the Statue of Liberty is free if you do not board inside the statue (access to the "Grounds of Liberty" only). However, you will need to purchase tickets for the ferry crossing.
The boats leave either from Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan or across the street from Liberty State Park in New Jersey.
